New Grandma: Gratuitous Baby Pictures

14 Mar

10:33 a.m. — I’m in Atlanta, photographs taken in San Antonio

Sticking with my previously mentioned theme of grand-babies = poetry, this seems to me the most logical place to show the most amount of people who want to see baby pictures, the baby pictures. The rest of you… oh, look anyway! Introducing Miss Hazel Selene Roby.

a week old

yes, my hair is greyer than my profile pic

does he look like a natural, or what?

however, Miss Hazel is easily fooled

Β Β Β Thank you for indulging me, everyone!

would you look how long the child is?

Oh, de, here I am with that wide smile. Thank you. Isn’t the name gorgeous? My brother’s response was: ‘Selene?!!! I was already going to regale you with tales of sacred trees and sacred pools and sacred salmon (for the Pisces part) and now I can riff on a MOON GODDESS? I can go nuts with this!’

What an adorable baby! And it’s nice to see a recent picture of you, M. πŸ™‚ Loving the name, it’s a name that reminds me of storytellers singing stories by the fire. Very fitting. πŸ™‚

Thank you, Angie. I think my favourite moment, after seeing her, was handing her to her mother the second she cried. Nice πŸ™‚

Good looking family. The baby’s dad looks like a deer in the middle of the road on a Saturday night. Congratulations!

Can’t wait to pass that on to my son! He did tell me that he hasn’t quite connected with the fact the baby he’s holding is staying.

Margo, she is absolutely beautiful. Of course, she favors her grandmother. (Smile.) You are such a natural with the little one. May you have many happy times with Hazel. (I love that name…with that name, I know she will be a unique person, as it is uncommon.) Blessings to you, your son and his wife, and most of all to little Hazel who will be surrounded by so much love.

Thank you, Mary, for all your good wishes. Funny you should say that. I found baby pictures of our daughter and Hazel does favour our side, but with her mother’s nose and chin!

      It’s a fine day, Irene!
My grandmother and mother had salt and pepper hair early, so I have always liked the look. Come to think of it, the jacket was my mother’s.

Precious Hazel. I love the photos, especially the one of you holding her. I hear there’s nothing better than grandchildren.

    • margo roby

Thank you, Diane! All the cliche things you hear about grandchildren are true! Hazel cried, I turned and handed her off to the closest parent.
